Luxury waterfront hotel
An iconic tropical hotel is set to be constructed at the Darwin Waterfront, a hotel that reflects Darwin’s historic tradition of buildings placed in lush garden settings will connect the city to the water, completing the Waterfront precinct as Darwin’s premier destination for leisure, lifestyle and connection to nature.
The hotel will be designed to appeal to international tourists, particularly those visiting Darwin via direct aviation links with China and the expanding cruise ship sector, and will feature amenities such as a public rooftop bar and skybridge.
The old Cavenagh House building will be demolished and replaced by a striking ‘green’ nine-storey office tower, which will create 250 construction jobs and will become the new administrative headquarters for the Department of Health
The proposal features substantial CBD activation measures that will deliver broader benefits to the community and contribute to revitalising the Darwin CBD including:
- greening the exterior of Energy House and improving the building’s façade
- a childcare centre on the ground floor of Energy House
- a capital contribution to the City of Darwin to upgrade and green Litchfield Street
- A new 320 bay public car park in Litchfield Street.
